Report: EDC Las Vegas postponing to October due to coronavirus

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas organizers will postpone the 2020 festival until October due to coronavirus concerns, according to a Billboard Magazine report.

Originally scheduled for May 15-17, Insomniac Events is now planning to produce the festival on Oct. 2-4, 2020. EDC Week 2020 events would be held Sept. 30 through Oct. 7.

An official statement from Insomniac has not yet been released but is expected this week, accordingly to a social media post by founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella.

Rotella previously said the festival was proceeding as planned but that a decision to postpone because of COVID-19 would be made at least 30 days in advance.

It’s not clear if EDC Orlando — planned for Oct. 13-15 — will also be affected by the Las Vegas move.

Almost every aspect of the entertainment industry in Las Vegas has gone dark in an effort to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. On March 17, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak ordered all 440 casinos in the state to close for 30 days. Many resorts are extending that closure through April 30.
